Fiber to the Home Construction and Gigabit Internet Coming for Residents of Shelton

April 10, 2025,  Aurora, Neb. — Hamilton Telecommunications has announced its plans to expand fiber-optic infrastructure in Shelton, making fiber to the home broadband available for all residents in the community and surrounding rural area. With fiber installation, Hamilton will be delivering the fastest Internet speeds available, including options such as the whole home Gigabit (Gig) plan that delivers speeds that are eight times faster than the top speed previously offered by Hamilton and ranks among the fastest in the industry, nationwide.

“We know that the need for faster internet for homes and business continues to grow.  Fiber-to-the-Home broadband is the highest standard of Internet service and will dramatically increase the reliability, speeds and services our customers can receive,” said John Nelson, CEO of Hamilton Telecommunications.

Hamilton is engaged in a multi-year project to bring fiber to all the homes and businesses of customers within the company’s local telephone exchange areas, including the Nebraska Central Telephone Company exchanges. “We are proud and excited to continue the construction that the previous owners of NCTC began and deliver fiber to the home access for 100% of our customers,” Nelson said.

Construction of this project has already begun and the company is currently boring the main line fiber necessary to bring fiber into each neighborhood. Hamilton is working with Alpha Utility, a contracted team that will be handling the rural and in-town mainline construction. As the mainline fiber construction is completed, Hamilton customer service representatives will begin contacting customers to schedule their in-home installation. Once fiber is completed in a neighborhood, Shelton customers will automatically be upgraded to the faster fiber speeds and Shelton residents will have access to the new services including data plans with speeds up to 1 Gig, managed wi-fi, Cobalt TV, and telephone service.  Any customer or Shelton resident with questions can also contact Hamilton at 308-468-6341 to schedule service or learn about new plans and speeds available to them soon.
